The Bench Donation Program

Help create a special place for rest and relaxation in our Milwaukee County Parks by donating a bench! Our program is the only program in Milwaukee County where you can have a bench installed at your favorite park. Donating a bench is wonderful way to improve our parks while commemorating a special event or honoring a loved one. The park the bench is placed in will determine the style of the bench. All bench purchases include a personalized inscription plaque that will be mounted on the bench’s backrest. We do require a $2,000.00 deposit to start the donation process. This deposit is used to cover permit requests, materials and freight costs.

 

Here’s what’s needed to donate a bench:
1. Review the bench placement guidelines.
2. Read through the program policy.
3. Call 414-273-7275 or email [email protected] to let us know in which park you would like your bench donation to be placed and what you would like engraved on the bench’s plaque. View samples of engraved plaques.
4. Submit the $2,000.00 deposit.

 

What happens next? The Park People office will confirm your order details, answer any questions and keep you updated on your bench placement. The Milwaukee County Landscape Department reviews your chosen location and may suggest a more appropriate location based on a number of factors. When completed, The Park People will inform you of the placement of the bench and request the remaining balance of the bench donation if it is still outstanding.

 

Acknowledgement Clause

It is recognized that the bench and the cement base for the bench will be placed in a public County Park. In that the location is exposed to the outside elements and to the general public, the purchaser acknowledges that damage to the bench or its base is not under the control of The Park People. The purchaser does not hold The Park People responsible for damage to the bench or cement base.

 

Bench Styles

Each Milwaukee County Park has a unique bench style. The park you select for your bench donation will determine the style of bench that is placed in that park. Please note that Sheridan, Grant and Lake Parks are no longer accepting bench donations. Friends of Boerner Botanical Gardens and Friends of the Domes manage bench donations for their respective park facilities. Bench Style #1 This bench style can be installed in most Milwaukee County Parks including Burns Commons, Cambridge Woods, Cudahy Nature Preserve, Dale Creek Parkway, East Side Bike Trail, Grantosa Creek Parkway, Granville Dog Park, Honey Creek Parkway, Kinnickinnic River Parkway, KK Sports Center, Lincoln Creek Parkway, Little Menomonee River Parkway, Melody View Preserve, Menomonee River Parkway, Milwaukee County Sports Complex, Milwaukee River Parkway, Oak Creek Parkway, River Front Launch Site, Root River Parkway, Runway Dog Park, Servite Park Preserve, Story Parkway, Trimborn Farm, Uihlein Soccer Park, Underwood Creek Parkway and the Union Pacific Railroad Corridor.

 

Bench Style #2 This bench can be installed in the following parks: Bay View, Bender, Big Bay, Bradford Beach, Cathedral Square, Cupertino, Dineen, Doctors, Jackson, McKinley, Pulaski Park (Milwaukee), Red Arrow, South Shore, Veterans, War Memorial and Art Center, and Warnimont.

 

Bench Style #3 This bench can be installed in the following parks: Clas, Juneau, Pere Marquette and Zeidler Union Square.
